Green-e® Peninsular Malaysia Market Appendix Questionnaire

Thank you for participating in this Green-e® Peninsular Malaysia Market Appendix Questionnaire. Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), the NGO that administers the Green-e® programs,  greatly values your feedback and knowledge of the Peninsular Malaysia renewable energy market.  Your feedback and input will help CRS offer Green-e® certification of qualifying renewable electricity and Energy Attribute Certificate sales made in Peninsular Malaysia, by developing a Peninsular Malaysia Market Appendix to the Green-e® Renewable Electricity Standard for International Certification (the International Standard).
Participant Information

Please fill out your name and contact information below.

Below is a list of specific questions CRS has compiled that pertain to specific sections of the Market Appendix. At the end of this questionnaire there will be a space for you to share any other feedback you may have on the Market Appendix.

Question 3: CRS would like to clarify the timeline for the foundation of the voluntary REC market in Peninsular Malaysia.  We have found that the first voluntary REC sale occurred in 2016.   Green-e® program criteria limit the age of eligible generators to the year that a voluntary renewable energy market first existed.  As currently written, the Peninsular Malaysia Market Appendix only allows electricity and RECs from generators that first came online in 2016 or later. (This question relates to Section III.C of the International Standard)

Question 4: The Green-e® program requires that a renewable energy tracking system be used for all transactions and retirements of Green-e® certified Renewable Energy Products.  In your experience, does the Malaysia Green Attribute Trading System (mGATs) platform track REC ownership and redemption in the same manner of APX’s TIGRS platform for RECs and Evidents platform for I-REC(e)s? Please add comments about why or why not, and any differences or similarities between mGATs and tracking systems. (This question relates to Section V.B of the International Standard)

Question 5: Only the following types of renewable resources are eligible to be used in Green-e® certified Renewable Energy Product in Peninsular Malaysia: Solar, including photovoltaic and solar thermal electric, Wind and Geothermal.  If you feel that an additional renewable resource should be included as an eligible resource that is not currently listed, please comment below including the resource type, justification and reasoning behind your opinion. (This question relates to Section III.A of the International Standard)
